International Men's Day 2017
What a day! There is a story to tell just in the photos from the day but I will try to capture it in words. We started prepping nice and early, rolling out the wheels, setting the course, prepping the BBQ and welcoming the Scouts. PCYC Hornsby Ku-ring-gai were wonderful hosts with President Peter Kirkwood popping in to say hi and his son taking a few turns on the push kart in anticipation of the larger event next year.
None of this is possible without community effort so thanks have to go to - Sos Removals and Storage, Bunnings Warehouse Thornleigh, Hornsby Council, Scouts NSW, the StreetWork Local Advisory Council members who turned up and worked so hard, Ian Cameron from the Rotary Club of Wahroonga, John Lee and Neil Ashworth from Triple H Community Radio, Ben Pearson for getting the BBQ trailer home and Tim Sheerman for getting the BBQ trailer there - and planting the original seed for the day 2 years ago!
This has been a project John Lee and I have big plans for so watch this space and enjoy the photos in the meantime!
This community event is about bringing men and boys together to celebrate teamwork through a push kart event outside the PCYC in Waitara.
The PCYC and Streetwork run a number of programs for young people and now is your chance to chek them out and meet the people who run them!
Local community organisations will have stalls showcasing what is available for youth in the area.
We will have a BBQ and of course there is the PCYC cafe for other food options.
The event will raise money for StreetWork’s mentoring and outreach Programs in the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai area.
